Please note that the total period of validity of a Fiji Passport is ten years from the original date of issue. It is the responsibility of all passport holders to renew their passport prior to expiry.

Applications for all Fiji Passports are processed by the Immigration Department in Suva, Fiji.

Please note that the Fiji Embassy in Washington D.C., the Permanent Mission of Fiji to the United Nations in New York or any of the Fiji Missions abroad currently do not accept or issue passport application.

Guidance in completing a Fiji Passport Application

Please read these notes carefully before starting to fill in the application form.

1. The Application

The applicant should complete the form in English, in BLOCK CAPITALS using black or blue ink or ballpoint pen or typescript.

If the applicant is 16 years and above but is illiterate or unable to complete the form in English or is disabled and cannot write, another person may complete the form. The person helping to fill out the forms should make a Statutory Declaration, stating that she had correctly completed the application in question from details supplied to her by the applicant who is illiterate and/or incapable of completing the form.

This declaration should be forwarded with the application.

Passport application for a child up to the age of 16 is to be completed by the Parent or Legal Guardian.

2. Passport Requirements

An applicant who is in possession of a passport must first surrender the passport when applying for a replacement. Any application for a passport for the first time should be accompanied by the applicant’s birth certificate (Full Extract) or documentary proof of Citizenship and 3 photographs (see top of form). For a married woman, attach your marriage certificate. Adoption Papers for adopted children. Deed Poll Paper for change of name. Decree Nisi and Decree Absolute for Divorcees. School Reports for Students. In addition provide any of the following as additional identity; (I) FNPF Membership Card (ii) Drivers License (iii) Bank/Business Card.

3. Signature

Signature should be in the applicant’s own handwriting. For an illiterate, the left thumbprint should replace the signature, but the print must clearly show the distinguishing lines of the thumb. Smudged or blurred prints are not acceptable.

4. Entitlement to a Fiji Passport

Any Fiji Citizen is entitled to a Passport irrespective of age provided all normal requirements are met.

5. Witness

A Witness is required for the declaration (Section 18).  The witness should be the same person that certifies the passport photographs.

An approved witness shall be a person who is a Notary Public, Member of Parliament, Head or Deputy Head of Government Department, Mayor, Member of any Town council, Township Board of Provincial Council, Magistrate, Barrister and Law Solicitor. Notary Public, Bank Officer, Justice of the Peace, Minister of Religion, Administrative Officer, Medical or Dental Practitioner, Education Officer, Assistant Education Officer or Head Teacher, Officer or Non-Commissioned Officer at the Fiji Military Forces. Officer now below the rank of Corporal in the Fiji Police Force, University Graduate

If none of the above-mentioned persons is available, the application may be witnessed by any person of good repute.

6. Passport Fees

The current scale of fees (VAT inclusive) for passports is shown below and payment should be made payable to the Department of Immigration(Fiji) in cash, international money order or  international bank draft for the exact amount:

Application for a New Passport   F$76.00
Application for a Replacement Passport   F$190.00
Application for a Replacement of a lost/mutilated valid passport   F$190.00
Application for a Certificate of Identity   F$140.00
Endorsement to a passport after it has been issued   F$76.00


7. Place of Issue

Passports are issued by the Immigration Department Headquarters, Suva, Fiji during office hours.  Completed application should reach the Immigration Department not less than 14 days before the date of which the passport is required.

8. Passport Validity

A passport is valid for 10 years from the date of issue.

Requirements

Applications should be submitted on the prescribed form and accompanied by the following:

For First Issue Fee - FJ$76.00

i) Completed Application Form;

ii) Applicant’s original birth certificate (Full Extract) or documentary proof of Citizenship;

iii) 3 photographs (see top of form/1 to be Notarized);

iii) For a married woman, attach your marriage certificate.
Adoption Papers for adopted children.
Deed Poll Paper for change of name.
Decree Nisi and Decree Absolute for Divorcees.
School Reports for Students.

iv) In addition provide any of the following as additional identity;

a) FNPF Membership Card;
b) Drivers License;
c) Bank/Business Card;
d) Green Card for US Permanent Residents.

For Lost Passports/mutilated Valid Passports Fee - FJ$190.00

i) Completed Application Form;

ii) Applicant’s original birth certificate (Full Extract) or documentary proof of Citizenship;

iii) 3 photographs (see top of form/1 to be Notarized);

iv) For a married woman, attach your marriage certificate.
Adoption Papers for adopted children.
Deed Poll Paper for change of name.
Decree Nisi and Decree Absolute for Divorcees.
School Reports for Students.

v) In addition provide any of the following as additional identity;

a) FNPF Membership Card;
b) Drivers License;
c) Bank/Business Card;
d) Green Card for US Permanent Residents.

vi) Police report from your local Police;

vii) Newspaper Article to show that the passport was reported missing (whole page showing date and name of newspaper)

For Replacement/Renewal Passport Fee - FJ$76.00

i) Completed Application Form;

ii) Attach expired passport (An applicant who is in possession of a passport must first surrender the passport when applying for a replacement);

iii) 3 passport photos (1 to be Notarized);

International Money Order or International Bank Draft payable in Fijian dollars for the prescribed fees can be obtained from your local bank.

**Original Documents will be returned to applicants after sighting.
